Mars Terms of Service

The terms for adding Mars to a Discord server and using its commands.

These terms apply when you add Mars, the Discord moderation bot made by Pure Studios, to a server or use its commands. By doing so, you agree to them. If you add Mars to a server, you confirm that you have the authority to do so for that server.

What Mars does

Mars uses Ad Astra, an AI decision model, to check messages and images against moderation categories and take the actions the server has configured: report, warn, delete or timeout. We may change, add or remove features, and we may set usage limits, such as a daily number of scans per server.

Permissions

The invite link asks for Administrator access. Review the permissions before you authorize Mars. You can change its role and permissions in your server at any time, although some features stop working without them.

AI makes mistakes

Ad Astra can flag acceptable messages and miss harmful ones. Mars helps moderators but does not replace them. Review reports, tune categories and thresholds for your community, and decide for yourself how much to automate. Mars is not an emergency service: if someone may be in danger, contact local emergency services.

Your responsibilities

If you add or manage Mars in a server, you agree to:

  • follow Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines and Developer Policy;
  • tell your members that messages in the server are checked by automated moderation, for example in your rules channel;
  • configure Mars and act on its results responsibly, including timeouts and deletions it makes under your settings.

You agree not to misuse Mars, including by using it to harass or unlawfully monitor people, sending content to it to overload it or to get around its limits, or trying to reverse engineer, copy or disrupt it or the services behind it.

Content

You and your members keep all rights to your messages. You allow us to process them only as needed to run Mars, as described in the Mars Privacy Policy.

Ending use

You can stop using Mars at any time by removing it from your server. Its settings for that server are then deleted automatically. We may limit, suspend or remove Mars from a server, or stop providing Mars, if a server breaks these terms, to protect the service or other people, or for operational reasons.

No warranty

Mars is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or catch every harmful message.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Pure Studios is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, members, revenue or reputation, including loss caused by moderation decisions or actions taken under your server's settings. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

Discord

Mars runs on Discord but is not made, endorsed or sponsored by Discord Inc. Discord's own terms continue to apply to your use of Discord.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using Mars after a change, the updated terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Poland. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
