The Settings page is your central control panel for customizing how Trace looks, behaves, and who can access it. You reach it from inside the Trace admin panel. Every option you change is held as a draft until you explicitly save - Trace never autosaves, so you can freely explore options and discard anything you don’t want to keep. At the top of the Settings page, a row of category pills organizes options into logical groups. Categories that your current role does not have permission to view are hidden automatically, so the list you see reflects exactly what you can change. Below the category pills, a text filter narrows the settings list to entries matching your search within the currently selected category.

Saving and Resetting

Settings work on a draft model - your changes are local until you confirm them.
  • A blue Save button appears whenever the current category’s state differs from what is stored.
  • A gray Reset to defaults button appears whenever the current category’s state differs from the product defaults.
Clicking Reset to defaults does not save - it only restores the draft to factory values. You must still click Save to persist that reset.

Appearance

The Appearance category lets you choose a built-in theme and optionally override the accent color. Theme preferences are stored per staff account and only persist once you click Save.

Built-in Themes

Trace

The default dark theme. High-contrast dark surfaces with the Trace brand accent.

Trace Light

The light counterpart to the default theme. Suitable for bright environments.

Nova Dark

A deep space-inspired dark theme. Surface #0d1117, ink #e6edf3, accent #1f6feb.

Additional Themes

Solarized Dark, Dracula, Nord, and One Dark are also available from the theme selector.

Custom Accent Color

You can override the accent color of any theme by entering a hex value in the Custom Accent field. The accent color is applied to:
  • Primary action buttons
  • Focus rings and outlines
  • Selected state highlights
  • Progress indicators
Enter the color as a six-character hex code in #RRGGBB format (for example, #8B5CF6). Leave the field blank to use the theme’s built-in accent.

Protection

The Protection category exposes anticheat threshold presets that control how sensitively Trace flags player behavior. The available presets are Relaxed, Balanced, and Strict. For a full breakdown of what each preset affects, see the Protection Presets page.

Operations

The Operations category contains settings that control the runtime behavior of Trace - how it handles events, processes data, and interacts with your experience’s server environment. Refer to the in-panel descriptions for each option, as available operations may vary by launcher version.

Systems

Global system toggles let you enable or disable entire Trace systems across your experience. The following systems can be toggled:
  • Help - in-panel help resources and guided tours
  • Reports - player-submitted reports
  • Trace Chat - the internal staff chat channel
  • Inspect Mode - real-time player inspection tools
  • Replays - session replay recording and playback
  • Detections - anticheat detection processing
  • Announcements - server-wide announcement broadcasts
  • Server Management - tools for managing live servers
  • Moderation - the core moderation action suite
Disabling a system here removes it globally for every role in your experience, including the Experience Owner. Make sure you intend to disable the system entirely before saving. To restrict a system to specific roles rather than removing it, use the permission controls in the Roles category instead.

Roles

The Roles category is where you create, edit, and delete role definitions, and configure how Roblox Group ranks map to Trace roles. For a step-by-step guide to setting up roles and permissions, see Role Setup.

About

The About category (labeled “Other” in some launcher versions) displays your current Trace launcher version and build information. It also provides a scoped factory reset for admin preferences - this resets stored panel preferences for the current account without affecting roles, moderation records, or configuration data.
